Until Copernicus, everyone believed that the Earth was the center of the universe, with the sun, moon and stars revolving around it. In the 1500s, Copernicus proved them all wrong. Though he built his own observatory, he had very basic tools, lacking even a telescope. Still, Copernicus persevered.
